Chevrolet’s History

Chevrolet was officially founded in 1911 as a division of General Motors by William C Durant. Chevrolet would quickly become a major competitor to the classic Ford Model T, and by 1930 took the crown as the top-selling brand. By 1919 Chevrolet had factories in six states and one in Canada, and with clever marketing and design ingenuity, was able to offer the cheapest six-cylinder vehicle available. In the 1950s, Chevrolet began to see massive influence in the automotive market with the release of the classic Corvette, Impala, and Bel-Air. The Corvette would eventually grow into a powerful automotive entity, while the Impala became the best-selling vehicle thus far in history.

First Chevrolet Models

Even with limited automotive technology and engineering options, Chevrolet began designing its first Chevy-branded vehicle in 1911. The Series-C Classic Six would be soon released in 1913 for widespread commercial sale after several concepts and prototypes. The large vehicle was hailed for being extremely well built and contained a 4.9L six-cylinder engine that produced 40 horsepower. Although the vehicle was well-loved publicly, it came at a significant financial cost to buyers. Chevrolet would quickly release the Little, which was a smaller, cheaper alternative to the Series-C available in the same year. The Little was soon rebranded as a Model L and was followed by the release of the Model H in 1914. The two new vehicle lines helped to jumpstart the Chevrolet name by being a lower cost to buyers.

Most Popular Chevrolet Models

Chevrolet has two models that have stood out among the chart-topping cars among the brand as best sellers. One of the top sellers of the Chevrolet brand is the infamous Chevrolet Impala. The Impala’s original look was reminiscent of poodle skirts and leather jackets, but its modern-day version is a testament to modern technology. Another among the most popular models of all time include the ever-popular Corvette. The Corvette’s classic models have shifted into being collector's items, and modern day Corvettes are outstandingly powerful, luxurious, and amazingly engineered.

Chevrolet Today

Chevrolet has always been known for a variety of models available at great prices to appeal to a wide audience. Modern-Day Chevrolet is no different, as it offers a vast range of models in nearly every segment. Compact Sedans, Crossover SUVS, Compact SUVs, and even the powerful Silverado 3500 pickup.
